An old English variety Carlisle Codlin was widely grown in Victorian England. A popular cooker in the North of England since it was bred sometime around 1830 from Carlisle in the Cumbria.

Caroline Apple

Caroline produces a medium sized green apple with pink to red stripes. Crisp and firm fleshed. Flavour is good and sweet. It keeps well up to the end of January. Named Caroline in 1820 after the wife of Lord Suffield and grown in Blickling Hall gardens in Norfolk.
