Cox Self Fertile Apple

Apple Cox Self Fertile has the usual familiarity of a Cox but is an easier to grow version of Coxs Orange Pippin. Whilst it keeps a lot of the benefits of the same crisp juicy flesh and aromatic tangy flavour, it has the benefit of being self fertile.

Crawley Beauty Apple

Apple Crawley Beauty is an old favourite dual purpose apple, found in a cottage garden in Sussex around 1870. Crawley Beauty has the benefit of being a cooker early in the season which cooks to a light frothy puree and as the season moves on sweetens to make a good eater from Christmas onwards, with crisp flesh and plenty of juice.

Crimson Queening Apple

Crimson Quoining is a lovely old apple that was first recorded around the early 1830s but likely to be of much older history. Makes a medium sized attractive apple, greenish yellow skin with red flush and stripes. Sweet flavoured and scented white juicy flesh.

Crispin Apple

Apple Crispin is of Japanese origin called Mutsu in 1930 and renamed in this country in 1968. Firm sweet juicy flesh with a crispness that perfectly reflects its name. Skin green turning golden yellow with more than a passing resemblance to Golden Delicious which indeed was one of its parents, but perhaps with a little more sophisticated taste.

Darcy Spice is an old dessert apple found at Tolleshunt D'Arcy, Essex in about 1785.The flavour is richly aromatic and sweet, though it needs a hot summer and keeping for a month or so to gain the fabulous spicy flavour for which it is famed.

Dabinett Apple

Apple Dabinett originated around the turn of the 1900s and was found as chance seedling in a hedgerow at Middle Lambrook, Somerset. Apple Dabinett is classed as a bittersweet cider apple and produces regular good crops of attractive small yellow green fruit.

Apple Devonshire Crimson Queen is a good looking dessert apple of medium size with deep red skin and darker red stripes with pink extending into the flesh, taste soft, sweet and juicy. Devonshire Crimson Queen grown in and popular in the Tamar Valley area of Devon & Cornwall.

Devonshire Quarrenden Apple

Devonshire Quarrenden is a very old apple of unknown origin from about 1685. Devonshire Quarrenden is one of the delights of the early harvest apple, straight from the tree it has a distinct strawberry like sweet flavour. Attractive deep red skin, flesh nicely crisp infused with pink red tones.

Discovery Apple

Apple Discovery often heralds the start of the apple season being a very early variety. The apples of the Discovery are of medium size coloured fresh green with a deep red blush on one side. Crisp white flesh tinged pink, fresh juicy flavour with hint of strawberry. Apple Discovery needs to be eaten straight from the tree to enjoy its flavour to the full.

Doctor Hogg Apple

Apple Doctor Hogg is a most impressive very large culinary apple, greenish yellow with prominent ribs from top to bottom and cooks to a beautiful aromatic fluff. Apple Doctor Hogg was named in honour of an apple enthusiast a Dr. Robert Hogg. It was thought to have been raised by the Head Gardener at Leonardslee in Sussex around 1880.

Downton Pippin Apple

Dowton Pippin is a very old apple from our Heritage range. Downton Pippin was a very popular apple in Victorian times and was named after Downton Castle in Shropshire. It produces small to medium sized, round fruit with a greenish yellow skin turning attractive gold with some russeting

Dr Harvey Apple

Apple Dr. Harvey is another from our heritage collection of apples. Thought to have been named after Dr. Gabriel Harvey, a former Master of Trinity College, Cambridge, who lived in Saffron Walden, Essex.
