ASHMEAD'S KERNEL APPLE

Ashmead’s Kernel could be described as a corner stone in the apple world. Russet skin and truly outstanding. A really great eater with excellent flavour and texture to match. It works wonderfully in salads and with cheeses. It can be cooked to a smooth puree and also has a great reputation as a dependable cider and juicing apple. The taste of Apple Ashmead’s Kernel has been compared to that of pear drops, sweet and sugary with and intense flavour.

Apple Ashmead’s Kernel is in a small group of old world apples that have succeeding in creating a deserved status within the new world varieties, unsurprising with all the strings to its bow.

Our Apple Ashmead’s Kernel bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.
