BRAMLEY SEEDLING APPLE

Bramley Seedling is without question the definitive English cooking apple. Its outstanding flavour has made Bramley Seedling the culinary favourite across the UK for a variety of apple recipes. Apple Bramley is a really juicy, large cooker with a distinct bumpy shape and an intense sharp flavour which, when cooked, becomes a very smooth, delicious puree, so much so that many believe it to be the lightest and fluffiest to come from an apple. Apple Bramley is a vigorous and long lasting tree, producing a bounty of apples year after year. It is an easy to grow apple tree, which rewards you with some of the best homegrown apples you can find.

Apple Bramley has a reputation of good disease resistance and is quite hardy in most temperatures. It is also a triploid, which means that it will not successfully pollinate other apple trees. The history of the Apple Bramley began in 1830’s when Mary Ann Brailsford planted the pip in her garden in Nottinghamshire. It takes its name from the owner of the house, Mr Bramley, who allowed the tree to be propagated by the local nurserymen as long as the name was his.

Our Apple Bramley Seedling bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.

Available in economy and premium selection

Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
