CARLISLE CODLIN APPLE

Carlisle Codlin is a old English variety which was widely grown in Victorian England. A popular cooker in the North of England since it was bred sometime around 1830 from Carlisle in the Cumbria. Produces distinctive large yellow fruit and cooks to a white, juicy puree with intense tangy fruit flavour. Being from the North it is a hardy tree suitable for tough colder conditions. Does not keep so pick September to October.

Our Apple Carlisle Codlin bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.

Available in economy and premium selection

Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
