CAROLINE APPLE
Caroline produces a medium sized green apple with pink to red stripes. Crisp and firm fleshed. Flavour is good and sweet. It keeps well up to the end of January. Named Caroline in 1820 after the wife of Lord Suffield and grown in Blickling Hall gardens in Norfolk. During the period the new apple Caroline became a regular favourite at Blickling Hall and the area; however it lost its popularity over the next 100 years and eventually was lost to cultivation. Recently a lone survivor was identified by apple experts as the missing Caroline apple and once again this historic heritage apple is being grown again
Our Apple Caroline bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.
Available in economy and premium selection
Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
