CHARLES ROSS APPLE

Charles Ross provides an easy to grow apple with good disease resistance and an ideal apple to grow in more exposed places. Charles Ross produces good sized harvests of large firm, sweet and juicy dessert apples. Can be quite sharp when first picked straight from the tree in September so can also be used as a cooker. The flesh stays partly intact, a lovely mix of puree with chunks having an almost pear-like flavour. Also makes a good apple for juicing. The skin has an attractive orange flush with broken red stripes over greeny yellow background. Charles Ross is a late Victorian apple from Berkshire C.1880; a cross between Cox’s Orange Pippin and Peasgood Nonsuch.

Our Apple Charles Ross bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.

Available in economy and premium selection

Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
