Whilst it keeps a lot of the benefits of the same crisp juicy flesh and aromatic tangy flavour, it has the benefit of being self fertile, therefore needing no companion pollinator. Our Apple Cox Self Fertile bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.
