EDWARD VII APPLE

King Edward VII. A cooking apple that makes an excellent hardy well behaved tree resistant to scab, producing bright green to yellow good sized fruits, with the perfect flavour for apple pie. King Edward VII is believed to be a cross between another well known golden yellow cooking apple called Golden Noble and the very old favourite Blenheim Orange. It was introduced to the country either by the nursery of Messrs Rowe of Worcestershire around 1902 or possibly Barbourne Nurseries Worcester around 1908. Attractive pink blossom but very late flowering requires careful choice for a compatible pollinator but also has the advantage of missing the late spring frosts.

Our Apple King Edward VII bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.

Available in economy and premium selection

Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
