HEREFORDSHIRE REDSTREAK APPLE
Herefordshire Redstreak was a very early cider apple variety considered the finest of its day. It was raised by Lord Scudamore in the1600’s from a pip he brought back from France when he was Ambassador. An attractive smallish apple with as it name suggests brightly coloured redstreaks over a pale yellow background, it produces plenty of prettily coloured pale pink juice with a high specific gravity. The resulting cider is classed as bittersweet and therefore has a high alcoholic content (11%).
Our Apple Herefordshire Redstreak bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.
Available in economy and premium selection
Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
