HORSFORD PROLIFIC APPLE
Horsford Prolific is a Norfolk variety apple from our Heritage Collection. It was discovered by the Reverand Mountfield in the vicarage garden at Horsford near Norwich around 1913. Reliably produces good crops of medium large apples with a buttery yellow skin and orange red flush with red stripes. Flesh is juicy crisp and quite sharp when first picked but mellows to a pleasing sweetness. A good apple for late eating stores well till the end of March
Our Horsford Prolific bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.
Available in economy and premium selection
Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
