LEMON PIPPIN APPLE
Lemon Pippin is considered by some authorities to be of English, Kent c1700’s or possibly Normandy origin, Lemon Pippin is an apple of great antiquity. Its name comes more from its shape and its lemon yellow skin than its flavour. The skin of Lemon Pippin is covered in small lenticel dots and sometimes with a russet flush. A dual purpose apple, greenish white somewhat acid flesh which sweetens in store or can be dried when it is excellent in tarts flans etc. Makes a small tree and reliable cropper without any fuss.
Our Apple Lemon Pippin bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.
Available in economy and premium selection
Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
