NORFOLK SUMMER BROADEND APPLE
A Heritage Collection old cooking apple variety from Norfolk. The origins of Summer Broadend are somewhat obscure dating from the late 1700’s. Was once popular in the Norwich area of Norfolk. Produces an early cooking apple with a tangy fruity apple taste, which keeps it shape well when cooked. Skin is buttery yellow with orange red stripes. Does not Keep.
Our Apple Norfolk Summer Broaden bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.
Available in economy and premium selection
Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
