RED MILLERS SEEDLING APPLE

Red Millers Seedling was found in Sudbury, Suffolk around 1948 as a red form or ‘sport’ of the Berkshire apple Millers Seedling which itself was once popular apple in the Victorian period. Attractive red crimson and pink flushed streaks on a yellow green background, a distinctively sweet and juicy flesh but liable to bruising if handled badly so does not transport well making it unsuitable along with a short storage life for the supermarket trade. Fruits tend to be smallish so well worth thinning the crop to get good sized apples. Best picked and eaten straight from the tree.

Our Apple Red Millers Seedling bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.

Available in economy and premium selection

Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
