Butcher's Broom - Ruscus aculeatus
Economy or Premium Selection
Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
This low growing spiky native evergreen plant is great for those places of deep shade in between tree roots etc where sometimes little grows. Ruscus will slowly form a low bush. The bright red berries are born when both male and female plants are present.
The common name for Butcher's Broom comes from the time when butchers used it for scrubbing their blocks and using the very hard spiky leaves to repel rats and mice. In modern times Butcher's Broom can be used as a herbal aid to enhance blood flow to the brain, legs and hands.
When quality is important use superior English Grown stock. All our plants are English grown English provenance stock.
