Working alongside the Design Team and Contracts Manager, you will help make ideas a reality. At the beginning of new contracts you will contribute to the presentation of contract costings and implementation plans. Once underway you will provide day to day project supervision and management. This would include organising material purchasing, site expenditure, labour and logistics. On site, you will lead and work hands on with the landscape staff to achieve the projected results. You will be the day to day company representative with the client on site.

Working in teams of two or three under the leadership of the Contracts Manager you will carry out a range of hard and soft landscaping duties on sites around Suffolk, Norfolk & North Essex.

Tree, hedge and shrub planting, fencing, bricklaying, laying paving slabs, wildlife habitat creation, woodland clearance & re-planting, turfing / seeding & use of diggers, dumpers & pedestrian machinery e.g. rotovators etc.

As well as working for our private clients you will also on occasion work at the Nursery carrying out repairs to the buildings / tunnels / irrigation as well as the future development of the site.

You will be involved in specialist tree planting services for specimen trees grown in containers up to 1000 litre in size.

You will ideally have a minimum of 2 years commercial nursery experience and will have a strong desire to further develop your skills within a unique environment. Ideally you will be looking to progress your career and move into a leadership role.

Hours of work

Our work is seasonal therefore there will be times when hours are varied. The norm is Monday to Friday 9.00 – 16.00. Hours will be reduced by negotiation during the season June – September inclusive

Responsibilities include:

  • Being the initial contact for telephone enquiries.
  • Contact customers to update them on the status of their enquiry / order
  • Assist in dealing with sales enquiries by email, phone or in person. You will process orders using our in-house system
  • Liaising with the Nursery Manager you will arrange and book dispatch of goods via courier & pallet company.

Skills and Experience

  • Good interpersonal skills with a variety of staff & customers. You will have customer service experience and skills
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills together with the ability to plan on a daily, weekly & monthly basis
  • You will have operational experience e.g. from a transport background
  • You will be computer literate and able to get up to speed quickly with our in-house database system
