Chivers Delight Apple
Sold out: | |
Economy or Premium Selection
Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy Chivers Delight produces an attractive medium sized late apple. Golden skinned with red flush and stripes on one side. Good crops of round, sweet, honeyed flavoured juicy fruit with a nice crunch to it. Bred in 1920 by Stephen Chivers, one of the famous Chivers jams and preserves family of Histon, Cambridgeshire. Stores well keeping its texture and crispness. An all round easy to grow and first rate apple that should be better known.
Our Apple Chivers Delight bare rooted trees are available from November through to March when the apple trees are dormant; this is the ideal time for planting. Our bare rooted trees are then transferred to pots once the season has come to an end and are made available for planting all year round. We recommend planting with a myccorrhizal fungi such as Rootgrow and some fish blood and bone to help improve impoverished soils.
To help give your tree the best start you can incorporate our carefully blended mix of potting compost to help give your tree all the vital nutrients and minerals it needs to flourish in your garden. We would also recommend supporting your tree with a good stake and tie to aid in its establishment. You can also download our planting guide to help you with any questions that you may have, alternatively you can call us on the number above or visit our expansive nursery.
