Plant Growing Production Supervisor

As an experienced and skilled Plant Nurseryman / Woman your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Nursery Manager and supervise the growing side of our plant production work.
  • Managing a small team ensuring records are maintained and correct aftercare is carried out. This ranges from weeding, irrigation, feeding, pruning, pest & disease control
  • You will be hands on where required and coach & mentor your team to produce quality plants.

Working alongside the Design Team and Contracts Manager, you will help make their ideas a reality. At the beginning of new contracts you will contribute to the presentation of contract costings and implementation plans. Once underway you will provide day to day project supervision and management. This would include organising material purchasing, site expenditure, labour and logistics. On site, you will lead and work hands on with the landscape staff to achieve the projected results. You will be the day to day company representative with the client on site.

Working in teams of two or three under the leadership of the Contracts Manager you will carry out a range of hard and soft landscaping duties on sites around Suffolk, Norfolk & North Essex.

Tree, hedge and shrub planting, fencing, bricklaying, laying paving slabs, wildlife habitat creation, woodland clearance & re-planting, turfing / seeding & use of diggers, dumpers & pedestrian machinery e.g. rotovators etc.

As well as working for our private clients you will also on occasion work at the Nursery carrying out repairs to the buildings / tunnels / irrigation as well as the future development of the site.

You will be involved in specialist tree planting services for specimen trees grown in containers up to 1000 litre in size.

As an experienced and skilled Gardener / Horticulturalist you will work within our arboretum, our private walled garden (which stocks our extensive range of herbaceous perennials) and in the gardens of a select few of our prime clients.

Your duties will include the routine care of plants e.g. pruning and weeding. In addition you will also contribute to the ongoing design revisions and development of the different working areas

Experience is not essential as full training will be given. Ideally you will have an interest in plants. You need to be physically fit.

8.00 am – 5.00 pm.  4th March to 28th June 2019 Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (potential for additional work on Monday)
