Possibly the best of all the crabs for masses of deep wine red slightly fragrant flowers, set off by coppery red young foliage and a further bonus of a magnificent display of blood red small fruits in the autumn.
The Siberian Crab is a small tree of rounded habit, producing masses of white fragrant flowers in late spring followed by small yellow or red fruits in autumn. Introduced from the Far East in about 1784.
A fairly recent 'Flowering Crab' bred around 1980 good upright habit makes a small to medium tree of cone shaped outline. Plenty of starry white flowers in spring followed late summer and autumn by orange yellow fruits
