FAGUS SYLVATICA FRANKEN
Fagus sylvatica Franken is an extremely collectable tree and could in any ones opinion be one of the most amazing small trees for foliage effect, the marbled white and green leaf, the older leaves, sometimes are almost completely white with a just few flecks of green. Being a Beech tree, during autumn and winter the foliage of Fagus sylvatica Franken will turn the well known attractive golden brown. These leaves ‘drop’ to make way for the stunning new foliage that comes through in the spring.
Fagus sylvatica Franken originated as a sport around the early 1990’s and makes a very slow growing tree, taking a number of years to achieve any real size, initially more effective as a foliage shrub than a tree. Site carefully out of the full glare of the sun or the attractive leaves may scorch.
