With deep purple foliage and similar to P. tenax purpureum but with benefit of being somewhat smaller, with sword like leaves drooping at the tips.
For all intents and purpose looking for all the world like a smaller and more lax form of P. tenax, main difference being in the yellow flower heads. Is the parent of a number of cultivars including 'Cream Delight'
