PLUM AVALON

Plum Avalon produces lovely large red, purple plums with a lovely, sweet flavour. One of the finest dessert varieties the Avalon Plum ripens mid to late season and will happily keep once picked for up to a week. Avalon Plum is a modern variety and an excellent example of improvement on the traditional Victoria.

Avalon is easy to grow, has good disease resistance and produces very good and reliable crops of excellent quality once it matures. Its pollination group is 2 it is also partially self fertile, which helps in a smaller garden or orchard.

Our Plum Avalon bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the plum trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown plum trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.
