Cydonia cathayensis also known as Chaenomeles cathayensis originates from central China and was introduced to Britain around 1800 Makes an attractive medium sized shrub with masses of pale pink blossom in April followed by medium to large round pear shaped golden yellow fruits ripen in October when they can be cooked to produce jams and jellies or add to apple pies for a real taste treat. A good early pollen plant for bees.
