A very unusual hybrid 'buckeye' a cross between Aesculus pavia and Aesculus sylvatica, rarely seen in this country and originating from the USA. Makes a small tree or large shrub, which during May and June is amply covered with attractive red and yellow chestnut like flowers.
Makes a tree upto 30 metres tall in native land of China in this country expext a much smaller tree. Similiar to the better known Albizia julibrissin with fine feathery foliage and requiring a similiar sheltered spot to avcheive success
The 'White alder'. A very attractive medium-sized to large tree with a spreading nature. Often producing interesting diamond-shaped, downy but shiny leaves. Its foliage produces a wonderful warm, spicy scent.
'Madrona' - a beautiful small tree or shrub with smooth red-brown bark, peeling late in the summer to reveal the new green bark. Orange yellow fruits follow panicles of off-white flowers in late spring.
