Court of Wick Apple

Apple Court of Wick is a very old variety from Somerset c.1790. Small to medium conical shaped fruit with a red flush and attractive russet spots over a golden yellow background. Intense fruity flavour. Disease resistant and a strong grower which lends itself to tougher conditions.


Apple Devonshire Crimson Queen is a good looking dessert apple of medium size with deep red skin and darker red stripes with pink extending into the flesh, taste soft, sweet and juicy. Devonshire Crimson Queen grown in and popular in the Tamar Valley area of Devon & Cornwall.

Doctor Hogg Apple

Apple Doctor Hogg is a most impressive very large culinary apple, greenish yellow with prominent ribs from top to bottom and cooks to a beautiful aromatic fluff. Apple Doctor Hogg was named in honour of an apple enthusiast a Dr. Robert Hogg. It was thought to have been raised by the Head Gardener at Leonardslee in Sussex around 1880.

Apple Ellisons Orange is a classic tasting English apple, producing a good medium sized, golden-yellow dessert apple with attractive crimson stripes. Has a strong influence of taste characteristic from one of its parents Coxs Orange Pippin with crisp and tender juicy flesh but with a unique spicy anise flavour.


Emperor Alexander was one of many apples grown in Russia, origins probably the Ukraine. Brought to this country around the turn of the 1800s and grown on by James Lee, a nurseryman of the time to provide an apple that would be suited to tough cold conditions. Emperor Alexander produces a dual-purpose large pale yellow skinned fruit striped and flushed red

Fiesta (Red Pippin) Apple


Though Apple Fiesta, sometimes called Red Pippin is easily found on the supermarket shelf it is still worthy of a place in any collection of apple trees for its comparative ease of growing and very good disease resistance.


Our trees are propagated from a very old tree found in the remains of an old derelict orchard in central Suffolk. Gascoynes Scarlet produces a medium sized apple, green with bright scarlet red flush, flesh is firm moderately juicy with a subtle flavour

Greensleeves Apple

An apple of recent breeding in 1966 from the Horticultural Research Institute, East Malling in Kent. Greensleves is a cross between James Grieve and Golden Delicious. Pale greenish yellow in colour turning a more golden yellow if left on the tree till October.

Honey Pippin Apple

The Honey Pippin apple was raised by Justin Brooke in the 1950s and introduced by a nursery near Newmarket in Suffolk. Presented to the National Fruit Collection in 1981. Named Honey Pippin to reflect the sweet honeyed taste with a strong accent of Cox Orange Pippin flavour.

James Grieve Apple

Once very popular James Grieve is an old variety, which produces good crops of medium sized yellow skinned all-purpose fruit with an attractive striped red flush. Tends to bruise easily so supermarkets do not stock it, which is a shame as it has an excellent flavour very intense and sharp early in the season.
