RED FALSTAFF APPLE

Red Falstaff was discovered as a sport from a branch of the original Falstaff apple in Norfolk during 1983 and has become popular due to its attractive appearance and Production of heavy crops crisp juicy apples. The trees have a slightly weeping habit, making apple-picking an easy task. Red Falstaff has a real crisp bite to its flesh with high juice content and sweet, tangy flavour. Red Falstaff is an easy going apple to grow with good disease resistance and the additional benefit of being self fertile.

The fruit can be picked at the end of September/beginning of October and be stored until the end of December. The heavy crops may mean that you have more apples than you know what to do with; many gardeners choose to juice at this time and freeze the extra fruit. Alternatively, the extra can be used for cider-making, to which it adds a distinct and tasty sharpness.
